Zoom webinar with Dr. Cedric Uytingco

This event is co-hosted by PROMISE and Meyerhoff Grads Programs at UMBC and it aims to serve specifically current graduate students and postdocs at UMBC and UMB campuses.


Dr. Cedric Uytingco will share his productive path between graduate school publishing, as well as writing for academia and when working in the private sector, each comes with their different importance and skills. We all know the importance of publishing, but only a few of us understand the process to start this task and the motivation behind it.


People from all disciplines are invited to attend this workshop and demystify the publication process.

Dr. Cedric Uytingco's career has been focused on neuroscience research and leveraging the information that can be gained from tissue sections to address fundamental biology and its impact on disease. He completed a Master's at the University of California, Davis and Doctorate at University of Maryland, School of Medicine, where his research focused on functional circuit mapping of the olfactory system. Upon completing the Ph.D. Dr. Uytingco completed a postdoc at the University of Florida, College of Medicine focused on systems biology and examining the pathophysiology of ciliopathies, with the ultimate goal of developing gene therapeutic treatment. Following his tenure in academia, he joined 10x Genomics and joined the team that developed the Visium Spatial Gene Expression Solution, where the assay measures total mRNA and maps the gene expression relative to the intact tissue sections.
