Developing Individual Development Plans, or IDPs, as a tool for assessing skills, charting goals, and facilitating communication with your postdoctoral mentor.
We will discuss the concept of the IDP, talk about the steps to execute the IDP process, and share resources for developing your own.
While IDPs were initially developed to assist postdocs in the life sciences, the process can be adopted by postdocs and their mentors in all disciplines. We strongly advocate spending time to develop an IDP; it is a tool that can be used to optimize your postdoctoral appointment.
