Postdoctoral Hiring – please review these guidelines for hiring postdocs at UMBC , we are working on getting new guidelines for PageUp that we hope to provide in early 2024. These guidelines includes who to get in touch with, how to use UMBC’s HR system, and has thoughtful insights you should consider for equitable and inclusive hiring.

Mentoring Plans- mentoring our postdoctoral scholars is critical. We encourage our Postdoctoral Research Associates to develop an Individualized Development Plan and provide two templates for this (option1, option2). If you are applying for grants for postdoctoral research associates, you may be required to have a Mentoring Plan. We have two examples of this, one is more UMBC specific and the other is a simplistic Postdoctoral Mentoring Plan Template  Faculty are strongly encouraged to be sure that all of the elements for mentoring are used within their proposals and plans and are followed through upon hire.

Mentor Training- through our PROMISE Academy alliance with other USM institutions, faculty are able to participate in evidence-based online mentor training. Contact Dr. Robin Cresiski for more information.
